Abstract

Greenhouse emission causes the global warming to the earth. Motorized traffic consume natural resources affect environmental by greenhouse emission. Thus, reduce the greenhouse emission is the essential criteria to protect the damage of environmental. The non-motorized traffic (NMT) is a beneficial transportation choice for sustainability environmental with result in zero emission of greenhouse gas. Although NMT plays an important role to environment sustainability, but there are factors stopping students from using NMT in campus. Therefore, this research attempt to investigate the factors that influencing the students‟ level of acceptance towards NMT in Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).Numerous researchers were conducted to determine the level of NMT acceptance, but factors used are different. Due to that, the factors applied in this research include demographic characteristics, trip characteristics, environmental factors, attitude and perception in measuring the level of students‟ acceptance. Data collected through survey technique will be analysed using Rasch Model. Rasch Model has ability to profile the level of student acceptance towards NMT factors. In conclusion, the results of this research will provide the useful information to UUM Students Affair Department to improve the usage of NMT in the future.
