Abstract

Motorized transport have proven for major source of air pollution.Emission of carbon monoxide and nitrogen monoxide can contribute to the environment pollution thus in the long term would harm human health.Cycling is one of the sustainable transport.It offers a green transport that are affordable, accessible and efficiency to people.Cycling provides zero emission to environment that motorized transport are not able to achieved.It improves health of people and avoid pollution to environment.Authorities should have an effective transport planning by providing bicycle infrastructure such as bike lanes, safety of cyclists and change behavior of people.A research was conducted in Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) to understand factors that would encourage cycling within the campus.The significance of this study is to develop a cycling culture in the society and increase awareness of people about the importance of sustainable transport.University should encourage more students to cycling by improving bicycle infrastructures and safety on the roads, concurrently conduct campaigns to promote cycling towards changing students’ behavior on the green transport.
