Abstract

This study is to identify the challenges of the Islamic primary school intervention program, organized by the Association of Parents and Teachers. To achieve the research purpose, qualitative data were collected from four instructors who were also parents and from eleventh parents who had used the services of instructors for their children. In addition, data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The study found the following aspects as the crucial contributing factors to the ineffective implementation of intervention programs by the Association of Parents and Teachers for Islamic primary school: (a) lack of skills, (b) lack of supervisory activities, (c) lack of involvement by school and home, (d) students were not properly organized according to their capabilities, and (e) time appropriateness of the program. The implication of this study includes the importance of a collaborative culture among the stakeholders in education, particularly school leaders, teachers, parents, and communities.
