Abstract

The huge demand in consumers' consumption of products, mainly food and beverages (F&B) have raised new challenges for all food businesses, specifically the Small and Medium Enterprises-Micro (SMEs). Generally in Kedah, F&B businesses are dominated by enterprises of this scale. Currently, there is a huge competition among those Micro SMEs to produce products on a large scale all along the supply-chain networks. Besides that, other challenges faced by Micro SMEs are the lack leadership styles, lack of entrepreneurial orientation and inconsistent performance to grab opportunities existing in the market. These challenges contribute a significant research gap in terms of leaderships in management practice towards business performance. For that reason, this study has created a conceptual model based on leadership theories in which they have a significant impact on business performance. This study is to observe the relationship between spirituality, and leader’s effectiveness. The study’s scope is within Muslim Micro SMEs in Kedah involved in the production of F&B.
