Abstract

Solid Waste Management is one of the most important issues in Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Pollution from SMEs contribute about 60% to 70% of waste. Large-scale organizations have received full attention from many researchers with respect to waste management practices. Nonetheless, the SMEs sector has never received adequate attention from researchers. This study is aimed at identifying the CSFs and developing solid waste management model for Nanas Merbok Enterprise, which is an SME at Kedah Darul Aman. In this research, qualitative method and critical review of literature in waste management area were adopted. The results indicated that there are fourteen CSFs on solid waste management practice which are: policy and legal enforcement, stakeholder involvement, good financial management, collection waste activity and evaluation process. CSR is used as a baseline to formulate Solid Waste Management Model for Nanas Merbok Enterprise. The finding can be a holistic guideline especially for Nanas Merbok Enterprise and indirectly for other SMEs that have the intention to handle solid waste in their manufacturing operations.
