Abstract
In recent years, the 5S practice has been commonly used among Malaysian organizations in order to enhance human capability and productivity. It was introduced by Takashi Osada from Japan in the early 1980s. It is believed that applying the 5S techniques could considerably raise the environmental performance in production line including housekeeping, health, safety and more. The purpose of this paper is to identify the key success factor of 5S implementation at UUM library. A survey was conducted at the UUM library. A set of questionnaires was used to capture information about the staff knowledge about the concept of 5S practicess, requirements success factor of implementation 5S at UUM Library, and benefits of implementation 5S practicess. The data collected were analyzed using the Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS). The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings show that most of the staff at Library UUM are generally aware and have knowledge about 5S practicess and they know how to implement the 5S practicess in their office environment. The UUM library staff also always improve the skill of implementation 5S to get a successful result.
