Abstract

THE prime minister yesterday made it clear that the Federal Government is not against implementing hudud.However, in order to achieve justice, which is the ultimate goal of the Islamic law, he said it was important first that both Muslims and non­Muslims understand the whole concept.Ulama, too, need to conduct an indepth study to arrive at a consensus on the code.Meanwhile, the head of a medical association has spoken out against doctors amputating the hands of convicted thieves under the law.
