Abstract

The home stay program was officially launched in 1995 by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture. Various attempts have been made by the government to provide courses, training and assistance, so that the personality of the community can meet the requirements for success of the program involved. However, the home stay program at Kampung Parit Penghulu.Malacca is still , dubious in terms of its source of success because there are continuous government interventions. This study assumes that the success of the home stay is not due to high personalities of members of the local community, but due to the help of the government. The purpose of the study is to assess the strength of personality in terms of openness, conscientiousness, extra version, agreeableness and neurotic ism of the local community in the success of the home stay program. This study examined aspects of personality by using a survey involving 101 heads of households.Based on the average test of the personality of openness, conscientiousness, extra version and agreeableness, the results show.a high level score of 4.20. However, the community who tested with aspects of neuroticism it, the score are also high with an average of 2.25 which show their emotions are good because the results are on the lower scale.Overall, the analysis shows that the success of the home stay program at Kampung Parit Penghulu is driven by high personality of the community front the aspects of openness, conscientiousness, extra version, agreeableness and neurotic ism.At the same time, the program's success is also due to the ongoing state assistance. The study argues that the program's success to date is a great combination between the government and local residents. Thus, the good personality of the community should be maintained in order to achieve success. As currently much government financial aids are channel-led to the home stay program, it is hopeful that in the future the government may be able 10 slowly reduce related assistance and focus on other sectors.
