Abstract

Industrial Revolution 4.0 is closely related to the development of digital, Internet or cyber based technology. The rapid development of existing technology has surpassed the Industrial Revolution 4.0 which was once considered only a fictional science likely to become irrelevant in the next few years if we were not prepared accordingly. This article will examine the issue of intellectual property in technology development in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 in terms of legislation. This article summarizes that the intellectual property las is one of important element in supporting technological developments, particularly in three key areas namely, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and blockchain that will focus on modern innovation and security in cyberspace in the future. Existing intellectual property laws need to be amended to ensure continued protection of intellectual property works and products involved in the Industrial Revolution 4.0. can be reinvigorated again. This article proposes that the intellectual property laws to be improved as regards to the digital world's challenges especially in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. This is due to the inherent dimensions of existing intellectual property laws in providing protection to the instruments involved in the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Technological development should be in line with the provisions of the law to ensure proper protection is given accordingly.
