Abstract
The strategic management of knowledge assets for competitive advantage in enterprises is important. This paper presents a systematic approach that can be followed to formulate a knowledge management (KM) strategy. The management of knowledge should not be done in an ad hoc or isolated manner. It should be integrated into the other management activities in the enterprise and linked to the strategic plan. The paper presents the results of an empirical survey to investigate the current situation with regard to KM activities in a life-insurance company and to determine the relationship between the KM activities and the business strategy of the enterprise. The results of the empirical survey indicated that there is a clear understanding of the importance of KM and acknowledgement that it could be a source for sustainable competitive advantage in the enterprise.
