Abstract
TB case is a widespread disease which is one of several factors that cause millions of death worldwide. It can become epidemic and also pandemic if it is not controlled. In Malaysia, the numbers of TB cases reported keep on increasing from year to year.Disease mapping can show clear picture of the risk areas.Hence, it can be used as the prevention strategies and in controlling a disease. However to get an accurate disease map, it relies on the modelling used to estimate the relative risk.Relative risk estimation is important when studying disease mapping. Therefore, the aim of this study is to estimate relative risk for TB disease transmission using one of the earliest applications of Bayesian methodology in disease mapping that is Poisson-gamma model. This relative risk estimation is applied to TB data in Malaysia. Then this result will be displayed in a map to represent TB risk areas.Perlis, Kedah, N. Sembilan, Melaka, Pahang and Terengganu have low risk of TB occurrences while Pulau Pinang, Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya, Sarawak and Sabah (including Labuan) show very high risk areas.
