Abstract

Truancy without any permitted reasons are considered as a global issue. This alarming phenomena tend to more serious in higher secondary school especially in public schools of Malaysia. Therefore the purpose of this study is (i). To develop a persuasive multimedia application in truancy awareness (PMTA) “Kitakan Kawan” and (ii) To measure students’ perceived truancy awareness through “Kitakan Kawan”.This study involves 140 lower secondary students from Form 1, Form 2, and Form 3 aged thirteen to fifteen. They are randomly selected from selected school to test the persuasive multimedia “Kitakan Kawan”. Q-PMTA (Questionnaire-Persuasive Multimedia in Truancy Awareness) was used to measure student’s truancy awareness before and after the treatment. The statistical result shows that persuasive multimedia learning is able to increase perceived truancy awareness among school children.
