Abstract

This chapter takes a comprehensive look at how to measure the performance of cloud services. Ensuring the quality of service plays an important role in the success cloud computing as the customers hosting their applications in public, private or hybrid cloud will still need to meet the requirements of their clients. This chapter looks at some of the tools mechanisms and applications that can be used for measuring and also quantifying the performance of cloud service providers. The tools and applications researched include that are provided as part of the cloud services by the provider himself, third party tools that can monitor any cloud provider and the tools proposed by independent researchers.
