Abstract

This study focuses on factors that attribute to persuasive communication failure in the context of public speaking. Public speaking is including the arrangement of texts in speech and with the ability of presenting and delivering rational, systematic and interestings performance. These aspects bid speakers to develop intellectual, professional and socio-emotional skills in public speaking. The inability to aquire these skills has become the failure factor in public speaking process hence the main issue of this study. This qualitative study which based on focus group examines the factors that are critical to the success of conveying messages in the context of persuasive communication. Effective persuasive communication is necessary to assist social community in order to be optimist by changing attitude. The findings of this study indicate factors hindering effective message delivery in public speaking. These factors include: Low self-esteem, fleeting emotional stability, limited vocabulary and language profiency, cultural differences and other factors.
