Abstract

New Product Development (NPD) processes are the keys to success for all enterprises. It plays an important role everywhere included large organizations and Small Medium Enterprise (SME). But there are only 30% of the SMEs business will survive in the 10th year business. This is due to the limited resource such as financial ability, changes of technology and the skill level of workforce limit the SMEs to adopt the framework that made by large organizations. The aim of conducting this study is to identify the critical success factor (CSF) of implementing the NPD process, the framework of the NPD implementing process and the obstacle during implementing the NPD process. The data is collected through an interview session with Dr.Tan, a senior manager who comes from Company X, who has 10 years of experiences as a planning engineer. All the finding is through a semi-structured questionnaire. The findings, which discovered 6 elements of CSF and 5 parts in the framework of NPD process implementation which are NPD process implementation and the obstacle which is people resistance to change, financial problem and unskilled worker. The contribution of this study is the enrichment of knowledge and some recommendation to the practitioner.
