Abstract

The energy efficiency of the appliances and equipment used in homes and businesses is very important. There are still much can be done to reduce the amount and slow growth of energy consumption in residential and buildings. Innovative solutions are required to change student’s energy consumption behavior and part of the solution is to present real- time electricity consumption data to students in real-time via a dedicated web platform. This research aims to explore the causes of high energy usage and how to improve the strategy for energy efficiency usage in the Bank Rakyat Residential Hall. The objectives of this research are to identify the causes of high energy usage and to propose the solution for improving energy efficiency. This research also used qualitative to approach for research method and interview for research technique. In Bank Rakyat Residential Hall, strategy improving energy efficiency was used to get more information about the causes and solution to manage energy consumption which is involved five respondents for data collection and five respondents for framework validation. Finding from data interview and literature review show that there are several causes that contribute the high energy sources and how to manage to improvement the strategy of energy efficiency. Future recommendations are motivating students living in the halls of residence to reduce the electricity wastage and control the energy cost. It also can reduce the carbon emissions released into the environment.
