Abstract

This study discusses food waste management in a selected company i.e. E-Idaman. Food waste management is an area that the government and the companies involved in managing the waste need to take into account. This is because in Malaysia there are almost 1.3 billion tonnes of food waste including fresh vegetable, household and hospitality sector. There is a problem with unsustainable production and consumption culture in Malaysia. The purpose of this study is to determine how E-Idaman manages food waste by using anaerobic technology to produce fertilizer gas and energy as one of the alternatives to encourage the people especially in Taman Tunku Sarina to adopt a recycling culture. Specifically, this study able to identify the anaerobic process to convert food waste to fertilizer, energy and gas and the effective management of food waste managed by E-Idaman in Taman Tunku Sarina. I hope that through this study, the community is aware of the importance of effective solid waste management and the importance of recycling practices.
