Abstract

This research tries to investigate the intended sectoral choice of the diploma students among the six major sectors, namely multinational corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, setting up own professional business, setting up own business, governmental sector or non-governmental organizations. This study is important looking at the current issues of graduates’ unemployment and yet little information is available about how undergraduate students make decisions concerning their future careers. The results suggest that the students would prefer most to work in the multinational corporations; males are more likely to set up their own business than females; and there is significant different between student who have prior working experience in the aspect of setting up own business. The implications are the needs for the university to build a good partnership with various sectors to assimilate and disseminate information about different industries requirement to both parties as to increase the employability of the students.
