Abstract

In most instances, families become the primary caregivers to one of health problems. Family plays a role in providing care and support to members who are ill, including People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). This study aims to explore the psychosocial impact faced by family members upon death due to HIV/AIDS.Studies conducted in the state of Kedah with I0 members of the family of wife and mother-to-PLWHA as respondents. The individuals who had interviewed have experience living with PLWHA and taking care of them during their illness until the death. A series of interviews was conducted as the data collection process and further analyzed wing a qualitative approach. The results showed few effects of the psychosocial aspects of place among the family members after PLWHA 's death. Stigma and discrimination faced a major effect in addition to effects related to the issue of death. The issue of death, including dealing with sudden death, to accede the death of PLWHA and handling the body (funeral). Effects faced PLWHA caused the death not only to the mother and wife of PLWHA but also involves their children. The findings also suggested that some steps must be performed by various groups to help family members to bear the impact of the death PLWHA. The findings could also be considered in enhancing one of the seven issues contained in the National Family Policy (DKN), which social issues in the family. This measure should be taken to ensure that members in the family are victims of social problems faced by one of its members.
