Abstract
THE 10-member Association of South-East Asian Nations, or Asean, is a political bloc that has been in existence for 45 years. Initially aimed at providing its member states a unified, and thus more powerful, voice in international relations, Asean has grown in its role over the years to be a major influence in the management of regional order.
