Abstract
The study was conducted to identify the language needs of students who were undergoing their fourth semester at the Matriculation Center in Universiti Utara Malaysia.It examines the purpose of learning the four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing)in the learner's daily interaction, the performance of the English Language needs of students at the Center are considered in the light of an in-depth interview conducted on 20 randomly selected student.The findings indicate the need to look into the learners' needs to provide information on the specific language skills that need to be emphasized when reviewing the present syllabus.The results will tinus draw attention to need analysis as a factor not to be ignored when planning language course and also as a source of information on the specific language skills that need to be emphasized when reviewing the syllabus.
