Abstract
KOTA KINABALU: Research on finding a Malaysian voice and identity needs to be increased and documented in order to be recognised, said Dr NoorFadhilah Mat Nayan of Universiti Utara Malaysia, here Wednesday."There have been some studies which looked at segmental features like vowels and consonants but when it comes to intonation and stress, the studies are either outdated or there is a lack of it so I think that there is a big gap in linguistics looking at Malaysian English in terms of the prosody," she said.
