Abstract

The superiority of United States of America (U.S.) in advance military technology nowadays has been challenged by many countries in the world. China had successfully tested their anti-satellite weapons and that led to arms race with U.S. This research aimed to study the implications of the anti-satellite (ASAT) weapons of U.S. and China to the Asia Pacific countries. The study appears that U.S.- China ASAT race has putting the instability to the Asia Pacific region as it will sparks the security threat over Taiwan issues, the possibility to engage with debris and nuclear threat as that will potentially equipped in the ASAT weapons, and security dilemma to the rest in the region those do not have the capability to built up their own ASAT. As a way out of these instability, U.S. and China managed to get involve in confidence building engagement, future cooperative security mechanism, and code of conduct in space for the entire region. However, the future of the Asia Pacific region is expectedly remains uncertainty.
