Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the problem occur by Nanas Merbok while implementing 5S. The core business of Nanas Merbok is to produce juices and jams for their customers. After direct observation in the factory, there were three problems occurred that related to 5S practice in company. The first problem involved was the work area at Nanas Merbok. The work area does not well organize especially the work tools such as bottle, box packing, and cleaning tool also do not place according to their types. Secondly, the company does not have the labeling of used machines in the factory. Thirdly the company lack in training practice new worker. With 3 problems faced on that company it’s were effect company effectively and efficiency in produce product. The objective of this paper exploring Critical Success Factor (CSF) toward 5S implementation which are Management and Planning, Effective Communication, Assessment Tools and Effective Communication by making comparison based on four models. In order to develop 5S implementation Model, it is also exploring obstacles during implementation 5S which are from Top Level Contribution, Financial Constraint and Lack of Employee Commitment at Nanas Merbok Enterprise Gurun Kedah. The paper is used qualitative method. PDCA Cycle from Deming has been used as fundamental reference and guideline in this study in order to develop 5S implementation Model. Implementation 5S Model for Nanas Merbok Enterprise can be a guideline for other SMEs that have the intention to increase their profit and productivity to become organization effective and efficiency in workplace. In end of this study, it shows the impact in practically to company found way to increasing their productivity and able meet the need of requirement customer perception.
