Abstract

This paper will discuss and analyze on the implications of foreign workers on national security in Malaysia. Undoubtedly, the presences of foreign workers were significant impact particularly in national economic development.While, the contributions of foreign workers are not an issue, their presence has become perceived as a threat on national security aspects by the Malaysian government.As a response, the government has established a range of policies related to in order to control the number of foreign labourers. However, these policies still inconsistently applied and have yet to effectively restrict their inflow.As a result, the foreign workers immigration has dramatically increased by approximately more than two million constituting about 23 per cent of the total workforce in Malaysia. Most of whom come from Bangladesh, India, Philippines and Indonesia.The situation will most certainly affect the country’s national security aspects particularly in non-military areas like economics, socials and politics.Therefore, the presence of foreign labours either legal or illegal should be administrated properly or else their presence would definitely pose some threat on security aspects in Malaysia.This inflow will positively continue unless the necessary measures and actions have already been taken to alleviate overwhelming of foreign labour in Malaysia. Hence, the foreign labour policies and regulations should be strengthened and re-ironed to ensure that foreign labour inflow could meet necessary needs of the local requirement of employment.Finally, it suggested the best solution to enhance the efficiencies of the government administration in employing foreign workers.
