Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine shortcomings and characteristics of an effective inventory system as required by the employees of Institute Technology Perwaja. A total of 30 respondents who are related to the inventory exercise have been selected for a sampling technique.Data was collected using structured self-administered questionnaires. Data was analyzed with the use of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Frequencies and percentage were employed in descriptive analyses while the relationship between the socio-employment factors and Inventory System variables was analyzed by using Pearson Product – Chi square. The result of the study reveal that there are numbers of major shortcomings of the existing inventory system, which need to be addressed by Institute Technology Perwaja in enhancing an effective Inventory System. It is further concluded that an effective Inventory System should comprise of functions like need determination, inventory in storage, inventory undergoing repair, disposition and program planning and monitoring.
