Abstract

UMNO is on the right track in engaging young professionals to create a fresh reservoir of future leaders. "This is in line with the party's plan to remain relevant for years to come," said Universiti Utara Malaysia political scientist Md Shukri Shuib.He said the transformation in the party polls was proof that Umno had never marginalised the grassroots,including young professionals."There was a perception that Umno was not friendly and accessible to professional groups, but the party polls proved critics wrong.
