Abstract

The objective of the study is to identify factors that influence the intention to share environmental knowledge among accounting educators and students at the universities level in Malaysia in order to improve their involvement on sustainable development process, thus, can lead to knowledge and responsibility sharing. Five (5) universities were chosen as sample, representing the five (5) regions; UUM, UITM, UTM, UMT and UMS. The selection of the universities is based on two factors which are first, the university which has accounting faculty and second, the university representing the five (5) regions of Malaysia. The data for this study was collected using questionnaire method and the data is analysed using SPSS or Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling by using SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results from the study showed significant relationship between the variables tested which are attitude, possession of environmental knowledge, perceived behavioural control, locus of control and intention to share environmental knowledge with their influence towards environmental knowledge sharing behaviour. However, the subjective norms showed insignificant relationship for both students and lecturers. The results indicated that all hypotheses constructed are supported except for subjective norms. Modified framework of environmental knowledge sharing is also proposed in order to enhance the environmental knowledge sharing behaviour. This study contributes to the knowledge sharing behaviour literature in terms of environmental knowledge sharing behaviour in the academics context especially from students’ and lecturers’ perspective.
