Abstract
This research involve the development of liquid hand wash to combat the spread of COVID-19. Most generic handwash in the market currently contain Triclosan, which have been proven to be harmful to human. Other handwash also cntain various chemicals that are mostly just as harmful of Triclosan. In this research, Sintok (Entada Spiralis Ridl) extract will be use as an active ingredient to combat COVID-19 virus in the form of antimicrobial handwash and bodywash. In previous research, Sintok extract has been proven effective in killing harmful bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus , Bacillus thermophilus and Streptococcus pyrogenes. The extract was also shown to be effective in killing various types of fungus especially those causing skin diseases. Such strong antimicrobial actions suggested that the extract has the potential to kill of virulent pathogen such as COVID-19 virus. Upon confirmation of Sintok extract ability in killing of COVID-19 virus, the extract was then be formulated into shower gel prototype . At the end of the project, a meeting was initialized with potential industrial partner, with the presence of representatives from the Innovation and Commercialization Centre (ICC, UUM) , the discuss the commercialization phase of the project
