Abstract

This study to determine the effect of quality of teaching toward knowledge and skill of teacher trainees in Teachers’ Traning Institute.Lecturer who taught these trainees influenced them in quality as teachers. The objective of this paper is to determine the effect quality of lecturer teaching specifically in aspect of quality of teaching, teaching level and time of teaching toward knowledge and skill of teacher trainees. Sample of respondent of this research were 187 teacher trainees from Teachers’ Traning Institute in Northern Zone Peninsular Malaysia. Data were analyzed using SPSS Version 19 to find descriptive data such as frequency, percent, correlation and regression. Findings indicate overall correlation for quality of teaching, times of teaching and level of teaching toward knowledge are 0.420, 0.555 and 0.554 respectively.The analysis showed score in quality of teaching, times of teaching and level of teaching toward knowledge are moderate and high.The correlation for quality of teaching, times of teaching and level of teaching toward skill are 0.386, 0.449 and 0.483 respectively.Relationship between quality of teaching, times of teaching and level of teaching with knowledge and skill are positive.The analysis showed score in quality of teaching, times of teaching and level of teaching toward skill are moderate. Multiple regression was used to examine the contribution of the lecturers teaching towards knowledge (R2=.469, 46.9%) and skills (R2=.405, 40.5%) respectively. Finding indicates the level of teaching towards skills (β = .303) was more influential than towards the knowledge (β= .302). Implication of the studies showed quality of teaching can be upgraded to make more influenced toward knowledge and skill of teacher trainees.
