Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the 4th Year nursing students’ satisfaction toward preparative program, the benefits gaining from preparative program and their opinion after the completion of the practice in academic year 2009, Faculty of Nursing, Princess of Naradhiwas University. The sample group was 48 nursing students studying in the 4th year.The statistics used in data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation and content analysis was employed as well.The results revealed that 1. A mean score of the 4th Year nursing students in terms of their satisfaction toward preparative program was high both in overall and each aspect.2. A mean score of the 4th Year nursing students in terms of benefits gaining from the preparative program was high both in overall and each aspect.3. Their opinion after the completion of the study was described as follows:3.1 The sample provided opinion on the preparative program prior to the study of the practicum in terms of teaching approach/methodology in preparative program prior to the study of the practicum, importance and their satisfaction toward the preparative program.3.2 Their opinion about the benefits was that they learned and understood the skill and experience, revised and gained additional nursing knowledge. The program encouraged them to possess more responsibility as well as preparing them for the professional nurse.3.3 The sample group would like to extend the program period, add more activities in the practicum and some activities in the practicum should be adjusted and improved.3.4 The sample group also expressed their feelings after the completion of the study regarding their feeling that has been changed after the completion of the training, their feelings toward instructors, mentors in nursing and the training itself.
