Abstract

In the era of advancement of internet technology nowadays had tested IPv4 to the limit.IPv4 is no more can support such demand and its capabilities had meet the boundaries. It's time now the new comer to replace the jobs.IPv6 is the promising protocol that will replace the jobs.IPv6 is the promising protocol that will replace IPv4.Abundance of IP's and enhances functionalities to support demanded application and users.Unfortunately IPv6 is not compatible with IPv4 and the transition to IPv6 will cost a lot of money. It will not replace its older brother over night. Many implementation issues such as lack of supported hardware and application available also transition between IPv4 and IPv6 are still discussed. But the replacement is imminent where IPv6 is going to replace IPv4 is sometimes in the future. This study is conducted to analyze the protocol and building an IPv6 test bed in UUM with this we hope to gain knowledge in implementation of IPv6 based network and preparing our self for the next generation of internet. We realize this study by implementing an IPv6 testbed that we named as "The 6iNet project".
