Abstract

This study investigates the current digitalisation trends in the freight transport and logistics industry in Malaysia. A qualitative research method was employed to conduct an in-depth interview based on three digitalization themes: connecting, collaborating and capitalising. The results of this study are discussed under each theme based on structured questions related to key technologies that are evolving industry. The results reveal that digitalization level for the future competitiveness of the industry adopts at the basic level and not at an advanced level. The results of this study also highlight that direction between digital strategies and industry transformation is not ascertained. These findings is hoped to assist government and freight logistics service providers in strategizing the existing current structure for digital technology adoption for overall business productivity.
