Abstract

The sport tournament scheduling in University Utara Malaysia (UUM) was studied in this paper. The inefficiency of the solution and a time consuming task are the motivation in investigating the problem of scheduling the sport tournament. Thus, this paper discusses previous work done in relation to the problem. Subsequently, a constraint-based methodology in solving the scheduling problem is presented. The purpose of the proposed approach is to achieve fair distribution of break or rest times and game venues among the competing teams. A user interface to the scheduling system is provided to ease the scheduler. Some recommendations regarding this special constraint-based programming methodology are given as well
