Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the viability of relocating Universiti Utara Malaysia International School (UUMIS) to Jitra in its effort of increasing the enrolment. Design/methodology/approach: The study conducted two (2) interview sessions which started with the UUMIS staff, existing parents and potential parents and followed with Brainy Bunch International School staff. Following to the input derived, a survey was formulated and distributed to the communities in Kedah and Perlis. Findings: From the interview conducted and questionnaire distributed, several issues were highlighted by the existing parents, teachers and potential parents that could be the cause of declining in number of enrolments such as the lack of teaching and teachers’ quality, weak management and branding and unclear curriculum and syllabus. In addition, this study offers some business strategy suggestions for UUMIS to consider in the attempt to improve their profitability. Implications: The results and findings contribute few practically implications for UUMIS to consider, utilise and adopt in improving their business operations, student enrolment and profitability
