Abstract
Sustainable Development (SD) practice in Cooperative (COOP) have been given little intention in literature due to its main objective and its contributions to country socio economic development. However, based on current development by its leading institution, the practice has been proposed as essential components in for COOP survival. This is because it provides the necessary foundation such as competent management in its operations such as open, transparent, accountable, equitable and management that will more responsive to its members and societal needs. Qualitative approach has been employed as primary research method to ground the data. The sustainable COOP model is conceptualized to produce three main elements of sustainability, which are economic aspects i.e. finandal model, governance aspects and social aspects. However, the result found little agenda for environmental initiatives. We conclude that there is more work to be done by the regulator if it wants COOP in Malaysia follows international moves, as aspired by the government in the second national co-operative blueprint on SD
