Abstract

“Inovasi Cerdik Jawi” is an approach that utilizes kinesthetic and cooperative learning with the aim to improve Jawi writing skill among primary school studens. This approach emphasizes the use of activities involve physical movement and cooperation between students to achieve learning objectives. This innovation gives emphasis to student’s fine motor skill through the activity of forming writing on magnetic sand which can stimuli student’s skill. Learning activities in Inovasi Cerdik jawi also encourage students to learn in cooperative way which requires student cooperation and they are responsible for the learning of the teammates apart of their own learning. Therefore, the aim of this study is to improve Jawi writing skills by using Inovasi Cerdik Jawi. Quantitative research is conducted in this study with quasi-experimental study involve pre-test and post-test. Sixty primary students were divided into two group, the control group and treatment group. Control group (n=30) used traditional methods in their learning session while treatment group (n=30) used Cerdik Jawi method. The results of Levene’s test (F 1,58) = 2.449, p>0.05) show that pre=test values for control group and treatment group are homogeneous before the study is carried out. The results for post-test for the treatment group showed that the learning method using Inovasi Cerdik Jawi had a sisnificant effect on Jawi writing skill. Based on the finding of qualitative data, the teaching method with the application of Inovasi Cerdik Jawi can increase student’s interest in learning Jawi. In conclusion, Inovasi Cerdik Jawi is the learning method using kinesthetic and cooperative approach are able to increase the level of mastery of Jawi sriting among primary school students
